Breaking in service

Breaking-in is one of the most important stages in any young horse’s life. Time and patience combined with excellent facilities and professional knowledge mean that every young horse is given the correct foundations from the beginning. Brett Polo places great emphasis on building on the horse’s trust and working within the horse’s ability which means that an excellent platform is built, from which to progress to training.

As every horse is different, timings may vary, but one month is a good guideline in which the horse can be broken-in and taught the basics ie: neck reining, backing up and changing legs. This is all done as long as the horse is comfortable within itself to perform the manoeuvres. It is essential to avoid pressurising the horse when it is not ready.

Training

Training can take place year-round at Holbrook Stud with the excellent facilities on offer. From basic schooling to chukkas Brett Polo offers a hassle free way for your horse to progress in its training under professional supervision.

Brett Polo also welcomes people who would like to play and train at the farm whether stabled there or not.
